Lightstreamer-example-StockList-client-rtd-master Not working
- I downloaded the Demo Source code and built it
- the Dll has been generated Successfully ,
then I used "RegAsm" tool to register the Dll.
But unfortunately when running the "ExcelDemo.xls" or "ExcelDemo.xlsx" they do not communicate successfully with Lightstreamer server and there are no data updated in both of them.
hint:
I did not change the default configuration of server that connects to lightstramer.
please help me as fast as you can.
Thanks and Best regards

Hi Hassan,
Please note that the "ExcelDemo.xlsx" by default tries to connect to the "http://push.lightstreamer.com" port 80 (this is configurable by the cell A1).
Could you confirm that your machine has no problems reaching that URL?
Also, when you open the spreadsheet from your Excel should appear a window with the title: "Lightstreamer :: RTD Demo :: Excel"; in that window you should find some specific informations about any problem encountered during connection.

Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe,
Thanks for your reply,
Kindly note that:
- my machine reaches the URL Successfully, also there is another demo "DotNetStockListDemo" installed and works fine.
- when opening preadsheet from Excel file, there are no forms displayed and all cells are #N/A as the following screenshot
(Kindly regard the formula of A1 Cell)
- the name of the RTD_PROG_ID in Demo Code is the default RtdServer ProgID ("lightstreamer.rtdexceldemo") which the same as called from Excel Formula
- I think the produced dll file is registered successfully also as the following screenshots
- then when open the excel file the data did not displayed.
Thanks and Best regards

Hi Hassan,
So, it seems that something has gone wrong in the dll registration.
If the status window does not appear, then it means that Excel RTD does not recognize the name "lightstreamer.rtdexceldemo".
Please, could you try to install the RTD demo through our installer RTDLibraryExcelDemoSetup.msi, and then replace the dll produced by your build in the lib folder of the installation dir.
Thank you,
Giuseppe

Hi Hassan,
I am very sorry that you are still in trouble with the RTD demo. I can't figure out why your re-built dll doesn't work.
Please, could you confirm that if you install the RTD demo from scratch and open the spreadsheet the demo works?
Furthermore, when you rebuild the dll, could you be sure that the flags: " Make assembly COM-Visible" in the project "Application - Assembly Information" properties and "Register for COM interop" in the project "Build" properties, were checked?
Your Excel is a 32-bit or a 64-bit version?
Thank you,
Giuseppe

Hi Hassan,
I would like to rule out that the issue is due to the security level set on your Excel. Please could you refer to this article and check if your Excel security settings allow RTD to work?
I asked you about the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the Excel because the DLL you built must be registered as a COM assembly with the operating system before it can be used.
If your RTD server will be running on a 64-bit machine that has both 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft .NET installed, register the RTD server DLL as a COM assembly for both 32-bit and 64-bit environments (there are different regasm programs for the different operating systems).
This will allow both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Excel to use the RTD server.
Regards,
Giuseppe
